DEKRA opens first Wi-Fi Alliance Authorized Test Lab in Stuttgart Germany

DEKRA has opened a Wi-Fi Alliance™ Authorized Test Laboratory (ATL) in Stuttgart, Germany, the first lab established in this key automotive industry area. The strategic location, close to multiple automotive manufacturers and suppliers, aims to support customers in having authorized Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ testing performed for their products, ensuring their high-quality, interoperability, security, and industry-agreed standards compliance.

With this new opening, the testing, inspection, and certification company DEKRA extends its global network of laboratories and now counts four labs authorized by the Wi-Fi Alliance®, located in Malaga (Spain), Guangzhou (Mainland China), Taiwan and, from now on, also in Stuttgart (Germany).

In vehicles, Wi-Fi technology is used in infotainment systems, electronic control units (ECU), and digital cockpits, among other components. This wireless technology powers connectivity between systems, sensors, passengers’ devices, communication between vehicle components and external infrastructure while sending data to the Internet. Besides, Wi-Fi plays a key role in updating in-vehicle devices to the latest firmware, which contributes to preventing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, staying up-to-date with regulatory compliance, and enhancing driver and passenger safety.
