DEKRA selected by the CSA to develop new features and test cases for the official Zigbee Test Tool

DEKRA has been designated by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) to develop and optimize new features and test cases for Zigbee Unified Test Harness (ZUTH), the certification testing tool used to certify Zigbee products. Zigbee is a wireless technology that enables IoT devices from different brands to communicate, ensuring interoperability in environments such as smart homes, commercial buildings, and industrial systems.

The CSA, leveraging DEKRA’s expertise in testing, conformance tools development, certification, and wireless technologies, has entrusted DEKRA with enhancing the official tool to obtain the CSA certification for Zigbee-enabled products.
“We’re excited to support CSA by optimizing ZUTH, the certification testing tool used to guarantee products meet Zigbee’s standard specifications for optimal performance. Additionally, we’re creating new test cases within the tool to accommodate the expanding range of Zigbee applications in the market. CSA’s recognition reinforces DEKRA’s role as a Zigbee Authorized Test House, empowering us to provide heightened support to our customers throughout the certification process by leveraging our expertise in the Zigbee certification tool and standard”, said Juan Carlos Mora, Business Line Connectivity Testing Director of Digital & Product Solutions at DEKRA.
Certifying a product through the Zigbee certification program ensures that the product complies with Zigbee standards and specifications, guaranteeing interoperability and compatibility with other Zigbee-certified devices. Additionally, some industry stakeholders or market channels may require Zigbee certification as a prerequisite for product acceptance or integration. Therefore, Zigbee certification is highly recommended for manufacturers seeking to leverage the full potential of Zigbee technology in their products and facilitate market access.
Zigbee technology allows IoT devices to communicate with each other and with central control points, regardless of whether they are from different brands. For example, in a smart home environment, IoT devices like lights, thermostats, security cameras, and appliances can communicate to coordinate actions, respond to specific environmental conditions, or even adapt to user preferences. Besides, Zigbee is a low-power technology that facilitates communication between devices by consuming low energy, contributing to greater automation options within IoT ecosystems.
In addition to Zigbee, DEKRA offers an extensive scope of connectivity services for IoT devices, supporting customers with testing and certification services for various technologies such as Matter, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and NFC and Made for iPhone (MFi) program, among many others. Additionally, DEKRA supports the IoT ecosystem by providing cybersecurity services, including the Amazon Alexa Voice Service and Alexa, GSMA IoT Security Assessment, ioXt Alliance Certification Program, and more.
