DEKRA has now been officially accredited as CAB (Conformity Assessment Body) for the SERMI scheme. SERMI offers brand-independent automotive businesses access to safety-related repair and maintenance information (RMI) for motor vehicles. The launch date for SERMI in most European countries is 1 April 2024.
SERMI stands for “Security Related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information”. The system offers an assessment and certification scheme that suppliers and independent workshops will need to work with security-related RMI – for example regarding theft prevention. This certificate replaces the separate access to security software from vehicle manufacturers.
As an accredited Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) for SERMI certification, DEKRA conducts approval and authorization inspections. Once the conformity assessment has been completed, the DEKRA auditors send the required test documentation to the SERMI Trust Center for processing. After successful authorization, the applicant receives a digital identity and DEKRA’s SERMI certification, which enables access to the manufacturers’ information portals.
